How many deals died in silence because your rep didn't know what to say next?

RoleplayLabs lets sales reps rehearse the moment a deal stalls. An AI buyer raises budget objections, compares you with a competitor or says it will circle back, in a live voice roleplay of up to 5 minutes. The rep then gets the transcript, a rubric scorecard and one coaching note on what to say next time.

They know the product. They know the pitch. But when the buyer says 'we'll think about it,' most reps smile, nod, and let the deal disappear.

The gap between product knowledge and deal skill

Pipeline reviews catch stalled deals. But by then the buyer has already gone quiet. You can't coach a conversation that already ended with 'let us get back to you.'

What if your reps could practice the moment where deals stall?

  1. Pick the scenario: a budget objection, a competitor comparison, or a vague 'we'll circle back.'
  2. Run a 5-minute voice roleplay against an AI buyer who deflects, objects, and withholds.
  3. Review the transcript, see where discovery dropped, and get one specific coaching note to try next time.

What does a sales objection session look like?

Here is an example of a stall scenario at standard difficulty. The AI buyer liked the demo but is trying to end the call without committing to anything.

AI buyer

This looks interesting but we need to discuss internally. Can you follow up next quarter?

Rep

Of course. Before I let you go, who else would be in that internal discussion?

AI buyer

Probably my manager and someone from finance. Budgets are tight right now.

Rep

That makes sense. When finance looks at this, what will they want to see to say yes?

AI buyer

Honestly, a reason it can't wait. We already have a tool that sort of does this.

Rep

What does the current tool not do that made you take this call?

AI buyer

Reporting is a mess. My team spends Friday afternoons building the numbers by hand.

Rep

So the cost of waiting a quarter is about twelve more Friday afternoons. Would a short call with your manager next week help you make that case?

AI buyer

Maybe. Send me two times and I'll check with her.

Example written to show the format. It is not a real customer conversation, and real scores depend on the scenario rubric and what the trainee says.

How is a sales objection session scored?

The scorecard uses the rubric for the sales scenario. In this example the criteria focus on discovery and on handling the stall.

Discovery
4/5
Finds out who decides, what finance needs and what the current tool fails at.
Handling the stall
4/5
Does not accept "next quarter"; turns it into a question about the decision process.
Value in the buyer's words
3/5
Ties the cost of waiting to the buyer's Friday reporting, but never confirms the buyer agrees with that framing.
Clear next step
3/5
Proposes a meeting with the manager, but leaves the buyer to check rather than agreeing a time on the call.

Coaching note

When the buyer says "send me two times", offer one now: "How does Tuesday at 11 look for you and your manager?" A next step agreed on the call is far more likely to happen.

What mistakes do reps make when a deal stalls?

  1. Accepting the stall. "Absolutely, I'll follow up next quarter" feels polite, but it ends the deal. A stall is a cue to ask what is really in the way.
  2. Arguing with the objection. Telling a buyer the price is not really high makes them defend their position. Ask what they are comparing it with instead.
  3. Pitching instead of asking. When pressure rises, reps repeat the feature list. One good question about the buyer's problem usually moves the conversation further.
  4. Discounting too early. Offering a discount at the first price objection teaches the buyer that pushing works, before you know whether price is the real issue.
  5. Leaving without a date. "I'll send some times" turns into a chase over email. Agree the next meeting while you still have the buyer's attention.

How is this different from classroom sales roleplay?

In a classroom or team meeting, a manager or colleague plays the buyer. They know the product, they like the rep, and they rarely stall the way a real buyer does. Most reps also find performing in front of peers uncomfortable, so they practise less than they should.

With RoleplayLabs the AI buyer deflects, objects and withholds information, and nobody is watching. Each rep can run the same objection several times in a week, compare the scorecards and hear exactly what they said. Team sessions remain a good place to share the best answers; AI practice gives every rep the repetitions in between.

How do you run objection practice with a sales team?

List the three objections that most often end your deals, such as budget, a competitor or a vague stall. Assign one per week. Each rep runs it, reads the scorecard and tries one change on a second attempt.

Managers can ask reps to bring their best and worst transcript to a one-to-one. Discussing real wording is more useful than general advice like "handle objections better". New reps can practise before they take their first live calls.

Why are sessions 5 minutes long?

Every RoleplayLabs session is capped at 5 minutes, and each started session uses one credit. Five minutes is long enough to get through the difficult part of a conversation: the opening, the pushback and the attempt to resolve it. It is short enough that nobody needs a free afternoon to practice.

Short sessions also make attempts comparable. When every try at the same scenario has the same length, persona and rubric, a change in the score is far more likely to come from what the trainee did differently than from a longer or easier conversation.

Frequently asked questions

Which objections can reps practice?

Budget and price objections, competitor comparisons, and vague stalls such as "we'll circle back" or "follow up next quarter". The AI buyer deflects and withholds information the way real buyers do.

How is a sales roleplay scored?

Against the rubric for that sales scenario. Sales rubrics can measure skills such as discovery and handling the stall, and every score links to the exact lines in the transcript.

Is RoleplayLabs a sales-only tool?

No. Sales objection handling is one of four use cases alongside customer support, hospitality guest complaints and difficult workplace conversations, so one tool can cover customer-facing and manager conversations.

What does RoleplayLabs add over ChatGPT voice mode?

ChatGPT can play a buyer on request. RoleplayLabs keeps the buyer persona and difficulty consistent, scores each attempt on the same rubric, saves the transcript and shows progress when a rep retries the scenario.
